Film Name: 黑客帝国：矩阵重启 / The Matrix Resurrections
Although I was able to watch The Matrix Resurrections online more than half a month ago, once I learned that it would be released in domestic theaters, especially after the film’s poor word-of-mouth, I decided to hold off until I got to the theater to see it-.
Since I’m sure I’ll see it and can’t expect much, I might as well save the experience for the more ceremonial big screen. But I’m not going to write a long review of this movie, because it’s hard for me to get excited about Black 4, so I’m just going to say a few words about it today.
First of all, it’s important to note that Black 4 is not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. In the case of the original “The Matrix” trilogy story is complete enough, the film has drawn a good line of continuation, not a brainless reboot, the temperament of the new, the theme is also closely linked to the change of the times in the past 20 years (feature phone to smartphone / heavy system host to the emphasis on the user experience, etc.); plus a lot of enough “fan-oriented” self-deprecating and self-hating. With a lot of “fan-oriented” self-deprecation and self-explanation (including the black owner Warner), as a sequel, it is already qualified.
However, it’s not as if Black 4 was wrongly subjected to a sea of bad reviews. The Matrix Resurrections is, in all fairness, not a bad movie in terms of quality, but it is a slower movie than most Hollywood movies in recent years – it’s all going downhill, and it’s a good movie.
But it’s a proper sequel to The Matrix, a new film by the Wachowski sisters + Warner, and an echo of a generation of classics from the turn of the century……. So, this embarrassing movie is just “bad”.
“I don’t know whether the movie is dead or not, but I do know that mainstream pan-commercial movies have become more and more “throwaway” over the years, and even though it’s getting harder and harder to come up with better scripts, more big productions are now going in the direction of frying, messing with the universe, and heightening the sensory excitement. (which is inexcusable from a business standpoint) …… It’s more likely that everyone’s favorite nowadays is the John Wick series …… So, then again, I’m afraid that everyone’s full of vitriol about Black 4 isn’t just a disappointment with the movie, but also with the fact that the It’s not just disappointment in the movie, it’s also nostalgia and longing for the “short, wonderful, potentially never-to-return era”. To be more specific, that is, the 1990s to the beginning of the 21st century, more than a decade – coincidentally, that is exactly two generations of our youth and youth.
Some people, some things, some things, really, it is better to see than to miss.
