Film Name: 流浪地球 2:再次冒险 / Inside the Wandering Earth Ⅱ
Due to the low schedule (and my own laziness), I was more than a week and almost half a month late in getting to the movie theater a few dozen kilometers away to see the documentary “Inside the Wandering Earth II”.
Anyway, I’m a big fan of the “Wandering Earth” movie series, and if I miss this documentary about Ball 2 on the big screen, I’m sure I’ll regret it in hindsight.
First, however, I have to say a few words from a personal point of view, without any negative connotations:
Probably because I’ve been following the interviews, reports, and news about “Inside the Wandering Earth 2” since it came out early last year, and more importantly, because last year I finished the “Wandering Earth 2 Filmmaking Handbook” and wrote a review of the book, a lot of the information in the documentary wasn’t new to me (or at least more than half of it). The interns who find fault with the movie, the management issues that can be seen in the smallest of meals, the fight with the “big guy” Titan, the design of a whole set of UI logos, the presence of a science advisor on the set, and so on.
However, it’s one thing to know it in your heart, but it’s another thing to see and feel it on the screen, and that’s the power of images.
Therefore, I still recommend all those who like “Inside the Wandering Earth 2” to watch this documentary if you have a chance, after watching it, you will like this series and this group of serious, persistent and lovely creators even more.
Then I’ll talk about a few points that impressed me the most after watching “Inside the Wandering Earth Ⅱ”:
1, as a documentary mainly about the filming and production of Ball 2, the movie inserts two pieces of history very “abruptly”, one in the beginning, mentioning the beginning of Chinese science fiction in the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China, including Liang Qichao’s “New China’s Future” and Lu Xun’s translation of Verne’s science fiction novels, and the other in the second half, talking about the 90s, China’s sci-fi again strides forward, the second half, talking about the 1990s. In the second half of the paragraph, it talks about China’s great strides in science fiction in the 1990s, such as the birth of “Science Fiction World”.
Obviously, this is a move “not forgetting the way of the past” (at the end of the movie, all the sci-fi movies in China’s history are mentioned, including the famous ones and the unknown ones, the good ones and the bad ones) – the “Wandering Earth” series is going to bring the whole Chinese sci-fi world to the forefront of Chinese science fiction. “The series is going to bring the whole Chinese science fiction together and be a flag bearer. In terms of actual achievements and influence, it is the most qualified milestone at this stage.
Guo Fan, Gao Anggao, Liu Yin, etc. are really a bunch of “crazy people” who are working hard in many aspects and corners, and to use a phrase from the movie, they are “very serious in both visible and invisible places”.
The most impressive places, such as Guo Fan suspected that the group of actors do not enter the scene on the spot angry – do not look at the director is usually smiling and very good at joking, when filming the seriousness is also very much “on-set tyrant” style, it is rare to see it! -So there was a little bit of drama for each of the group actors in the movie.
There is also that scrapped Blackhawk helicopter in the background of the opening scene of the movie, originally to make a simple war-damaged version is very simple, but because of the “details are right, and finally put together where it is not right” as a reason, they are hard to hand rubbed a complete model of the Blackhawk out, and then slowly smashed, prying, beating, and become a real war-damaged version of the best use of things! ……
It can be said that many of the efforts made by this group of people in the details, ninety percent or even ninety-nine percent will not be noticed by the audience, but they still do it, when the audience to take a magnifying glass in order to find these joys or remnants of the bugs, more only to them in the matter of the admiration.
3. I am even more convinced that, even without talking about the content and quality of the movie, “Inside the Wandering Earth 2” is an epoch-making pioneer for Chinese cinema just for the efforts and achievements made before and after the production.
Because it is a heavy industry, heavy assets of the blockbuster, it does things that no one has done before, this is not only a test of the movie industry, but also a whole country behind the embodiment of the overall strength of the region – I have always had this point of view: of course, the movie is a kind of art, the world of any one who has the talent and ideas may create a good work, but it’s not a good work. Anyone in the world with talent and ideas can create a good work, but a movie is also a kind of industrial product, and this kind of “product” can’t be made by anyone.
Ball 2 crew in the learning from Hollywood’s advanced experience at the same time, but also often found that there is no stone to touch, or gleaned over the good things they do not necessarily use, to this time, can only go to their own “build wheels.
It is not easy to build a foundation and set a standard from scratch, and for Chinese movies, the achievements they have made can be said to be of great merit.
4. I really saw many people’s dreams and love in “Inside the Wandering Earth Ⅱ”.
If you don’t like what you do, it’s just a job to make money, but if you love it and work hard for it, then it’s a career for you – and it’s great to work hard for what you love.
There is always good in this world.
