Film Name:鬼新娘 / The Bride from Hell
《The Bride from Hell》 is an emotionally charged Chinese film about love, life, death and destiny, in which Chow Yun-Fat shows his persistence and perseverance in love as well as the impermanence and helplessness of fate.
The emotional depiction of the film is very strong, and the tragic love between Chow Yun-Fat and the female lead makes people sigh at the impermanence of fate and the greatness of love. Some of the emotional scenes in the film, such as Chow Yun-Fat’s willingness to lose ten years of his life for Cherie Chung’s ability to stay in the yang world for 49 days and the scene in which Cherie Chung flies to the sky with Chow Yun in order to prove that she is a ghost, are a bit of romanticism, but the overall expression of emotions is sincere. The singing and fighting scenes between Deanie Ip and Cherie Chung in the film are also considered classics.
The plot and drama of the film were rated as strong, but there were views that the film seemed a bit abrupt and not refined enough in its handling of certain emotions and drama. Nonetheless, the film’s emotional delivery and certain scenes still earned rave reviews from the audience.
