Film Name:挑战/The Challenge
Saw this film and loved it! This is what hardcore tech cinema is all about, it’s only from this film that you can see what Russian cinema should be like these days, it’s even what so-called sci-fi and tech cinema should look like and learn from all over the world, including the US and China.
This film is about a cosmonaut who is injured in distress while working outside the capsule and needs surgery, and it can only be done in space, and finally a female surgeon has to be sent up to do the surgery in space, and the key thing is that she’s a vegetarian and has never been in space before.
This film is a real Russian director and actress as astronauts, with a rocket sent to the International Space Station to go to the actual shooting, is the first real film in space.
This is what we call a “technological film”, a film that is closer to reality, a film that is helpful to mankind, a film that is idealistic, and a film that is internationalist in spirit, rather than a film that brings out the dregs of medieval monotheism over and over again to disgust us all!
I have to say, these Russian directors still know what the audience, especially the male audience, wants to see, and there are a lot of commercial elements, and the scene where the actresses are changing clothes in space is a “feast for the eyes”. I actually hate the objectification of women, especially using them as vases and symbols of sexuality, but the way it is handled in this film is not what I think! However, the treatment in this film, I think, is not on the level of “eroticism”, but on the level of letting people see the beautiful side of women, which is healthy and full of femininity, so you can experience it for yourself.
All in all, I really enjoyed this film and highly recommend watching it! It’s best to get a bigger screen, it’s a shame to watch this film on a small screen!
