Film Name: 青春变形记 / Turning Red
Turning Red is a pretty good movie.
While it still doesn’t rank among the top tier of “Pixar Animation” in my mind (mainly due to a slight lack of creativity and thematic novelty), it’s definitely one of the best remaining animated feature films.
The film’s greatest strength lies in bringing together “Chinese N-generation immigrants’ conflicts over traditional family customs and modern pop culture,” “generational conflicts between teenagers and their adult parents,” and “girls’ cluelessness, trepidation after sexual awakening, longing, and restlessness” are three iconic adolescent emotions and psychology, which are interpreted in a funny, exaggerated, and very figurative form.
